Pyjamas All Day.

Currently still in my pyjamas, on the sofa with a blanket on me, a cat snuggled beside my left leg and one laying on my chest. I am ill, I have been in for over a week with a really bad cold which has felt like the flu (but not as severe), this has resulted in me taking 4 days off over 6 days. Now as I am a contracted worker this means that I don’t get paid for any sick days that I have so the next two pay slips are going to be crap! Yey!

I thought, as I lay here on the sofa, my lungs feeling weak and my cough sounding like an old dog barking that I might do a wee update post. It’s been a while, some months since I posted I thought why not update my blog with the many goings on on my life (I lie, there are hardly any…). So here goes..

I’m still in my temp job which has been extended until the end of April, which only gives me a couple of months to secure a permanent job, this is not stressing me out at all. NOT ONE BIT. NO STRESS HERE, BUDDY!

I’ve rediscovered my love of reading and books with the thanks to the library. I used to love reading and then I got a Kindle and I realised I didn’t read as much because I actually loved holding a book in my hand and turning a page. I’m currently reading The Acid House, by Irvine Welsh (side note, my cousin was one of the producers on the film, which I’ve still not seen…). I’ve also read Girl Unknown, The Inner Fix and I’ve got The 4 Week Body Blitz currently out on loan, unfortunately I’ve been to ill to start it BUT that will change shortly when I’m fighting fit.

Last year I dropped quite a few lbs which has resulted in my body shape changing and me feeling so much better (*please ignore the fact that I am currently ill), I’ve been wanting to drop the weight that so sneakily creeped up on me over the past few years and with the impending ‘Marshall / Wilson’ wedding I wanted to make sure I look decent in a pretty dress! I’ll be keeping up the lifestyle of exercise and healthier eating long after the wedding (fo’ life, yo!).

Speaking of wedding, it seems that after being engaged for over a year we have finally decided to get married this year. THIS YEAR, 2018. In under 10 months to be precise, we’ve provisionally booking our wedding date and it seems that we will be signing on the dotted line this coming Sunday. I’m looking forward to actually getting it booked so we can start to put things together and organise all the bits and bobs that go with organising and planning a wedding. Like most, if not all ‘brides / grooms to be’ I have an Amazon Wish list and a Pinterest full of ideas.

Well I think I’m going to leave the post here as I’m feeling pretty tired and might head back up to bed for a well needed snooze.

See ya! 🤧

December 1st.

Is finally upon us, which means it’s only 24 days until CHRISTMAS!
I’m super excited, I have just eaten my very first chocolate from the advent calendar and am about to start my Christmas card list! We’re going to have another year with just the two of us (well, 5 if you count the cats. Which of course, we do…), we’ll spend it eating, drinking, watching old Christmas films and playing boardgames.
We’ll do our obligatory family visits on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, which will allow us to spend the day lounging about in our jammies!

There’s still so much to do between now and then, decorating the house, writing out cards, going on a food & booze run and of course buying presents!
This year me and J are cutting back on what we spend on each other, we’ve had a busy and expensive year, so it makes sense just get each other something small (and within budget!). To be honest, the main focus for us is FOOD, we both LOVE a Christmas dinner (who doesn’t?!) and this year we will be going all out with all the meat, veg and pigs and blankets that you can eat! I better do a Joey from Friends and invest (or borrow) a pair of maternity leggings so that I am at my most comfortable when stuffing my face!

I’m hoping to try and persuade J to pop the Christmas tree up in the next few days. I need to invest in some more decorating also, however I have some fantastic crocheted Christmas lights coming my way, handmade by my friend Heather! I cannot wait for the house to feel Christmasy, I might even pop a playlist on the Sonos…

Anyway, I hope everyone is getting into the spirit of things and takes full advantage of all the Christmas themed fun wherever you are and if you’re not a fan, that’s cool, but we can’t be friends. 😜

I Don’t Vant To Be A Vampire.

That time of year is nearly upon us (Halloween) and yes it is time to start thinking about your costume and I have found the perfect one which is now out of stock on the Matalan website. First world problems at its best!

Just look at it! I could be a stylish Mummy sipping on blood themed cocktails, but no. Not unless they have my size in store or have my size restocked online, then I will have to resort the afore mentioned Vampire or a Zombie, my two ‘go to’ Halloween costumes.

halloween-mummy-dress-fancy-dress-costume2 It’s only £15!!!

Now, Zombies and Vampires are easy, wear an old/nice outfit and apply blood to said outfit or if you do not intend to ruin your best threads, apply blood over the face, neck and exposed body parts, always a winner… But not everyone wants to attend a party where the majority of guests have had the same idea as you (Yes, I know, the Mummy costume isn’t exactly thinking outside the box, but it is something different for me).

I have been scouring the internet to find a costume that is cheap (but not cheap looking), not a Zombie or Vampire and also something that doesn’t have the word ‘sexy’ in front of it. These are just some of the little beauties that I came across…

*The below costumes are going in the ‘No’ pile.

Examples –

sexy-womens-scottish-costume

Sexy Scottish Girl

sexy-jackie-sparrow-costume

Sexy ‘Jackie’ Sparrow

OR

ladies-sexy-orange-mm-costume

Sexy Orange M&M(!)

None of these appeal to me, sadly. Not even the ‘sexy’ Orange M&M… Which might come as a shocker.

Most of the Halloween costumes that are aimed at women are ‘sexy’, now if this floats your boat then go for it. I however, would rather be classy or all out bloody and gory and some of these costumes aren’t cheap, which astounds me considering there is very little fabric! I think £15 is the most that I would spend on any Halloween costume and I’m just hoping that Matalan will restock the Mummy costume soon.

Thankfully I have a few weeks to get my costume in order, whether I buy one or throw something together at the last minute I’m sure it will be good or at least it will be covered in blood and Halloween party appropriate.

Wedding Recption Fun Times.

Last Saturday we attended Jaimie’s friend Calum and his wife Fran’s wedding reception at The Balmoral, it was great fun and the bride and groom looked fantastic. It was nice for us to be able to dress up, have a night out and let our hair down as we don’t tend to do that very often as we’re old and now have a mortgage and a kitten (it wasn’t a late night however as I was working the next day).
Here is a few pictures of the evening, featuring the bride & groom, myself, Jaimie and his bbf Ally (and not forgetting the outfits!).

Jaimie is wearing trousers and tie from George at ASDA, shirt from TKMaxx, shoes from Clarks and the navy velvet jacket was my grandads.

I’m wearing a dress from George at ASDA, shoes from ebay and the coat is from M&S.

Round Up.

Herrow chaps and chapettes!

Not much has been happening since I last checked in with you, still working away and spending money on clothes and shoes.

I turned the ripe old age of 26, as you get older you realise how much birthdays are not a bit deal. BUT I did however have an awesome birthday night with my best buds! The theme was Man v Food, everybody was invited to make big/lots of food and bring drinks. I went for the giant cheeseburger and with Jaimie’s help it was AMAZING.
It was a very drunken night (even though I was horrifically ill, I had viral infection), it wss filled with party games, face paints and people popped on all the trinkets inside their party bags. I loved it and I love my friends.

I also happened to go on a long weekend away to the beautiful city of Budapest. I went with 4 of my buddies and we spent 4 days and 3 nights exploring, taking in the sights and sounds with a pub crawl thrown in for good measure. Budapest is stunning and the weather was quite good, surprisingly warm in October! There is so much history and it was great to learn about it.
I will definitely be going back and this time taking Jaimie as he is DESPERATE to go.

Other things in Kathryn news is that I have a new phone which I love, hiya Galaxy SIII! Burst my lip and hurt my teeth on a drunken night out. Went to the RBS Museum Lates with Lisa and her work friends, again another drunken night out. Took mum to Chamber Street Museum to see the Catherine The Great exhibition, which is a must (it has since finished). Dinner and a meeting with Jaimie’s family for his dad’s 60. Spent more money on clothes and shoes. Treated mum, dad and Jaimie to lunch. Gotten over a viral infection AND cut my fringe in… again.

"Bye Bye Sarah, Sarah Goodbye…"

Last night was the final leaving night for my buddy Sarah from work, she’s off to teach English in South Korea (well jel!).  I had been unable to make her first night out last Monday as I was still on my jollies, so last night I caught up with everyone in SuperCube where we had booked a room for karaoke.  It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves and singing their little hearts out!  My fav rendition was Wuthering Heights performed by the whole team in a high pitched Kate Bush styleee!  We finished up at half 11 and some folks decided to go to LuLu’s on George Street, which is not my cup of tea (and plus I was skint) so I chose to head home.

Taste Festival 2011.

I LOVE the Taste Festival!  This was the second time that I attended, Jaimie managed to pick up two for one tickets for us, his mum & dad and my parents.  It was £15 to buy one pack of ‘crowns’ which is how you pay for things, although some of the stalls only take cash, I’m sure that was more expensive than the last time…

Anyhoo’s!  We watched some of the chefs (Gary Rhodes walked past me!), we sampled good food, fine wine (drinks) and spent lots and lots of money!  Thank goodness the weather held up and it was a lovely sunny evening and this was also the first time in nearly 4 YEARS(!) that our parents would properly meet each other, luckily they got on really well.

We’re also off to the Foodies Festival in August, so that’s most of my money gone then!

Kings Of Leon Came To Town.

On Sunday I FINALLY got the use of my Christmas present from Jaimie which was a ticket to see the FANTASTIC Kings Of Leon at Murrayfield Stadium.  The White Lies were supporting and they were brilliant, the crowd loved them too which was great as some support acts can be hit or miss.  Our tickets were for seating and they were good seats, we could see all the action taking place such as The White Lies, KOL and all the fights!  We witnessed about 5(!) and a couple of them were women, some people should not be allowed to drink, they got thrown out and missed the rest of the concert!  Stupid people.

When KOL came out on stage the crowd went wild the whole stadium was electric!  Everyone was singing, dancing and screaming along to their songs.  It was AMAZING and they completely rocked it, it was the second time I had seen them (first time wad at T In The Park a couple of years ago) and I encourage you to go and see Kings Of Leoon.
