Witness The Fitness.

HA! Don’t be fooled by the title, I am in no way fit, but I am getting there.

If you have read my blog before you would have read a ‘few’ posts, mainly in January about me joining the gym or starting an exercise regime/healthy eating which I intended to stick to… Now, I did mange to stick to them for a while (month or so) and then I would go back to being lazy and stuffing my face (which I still enjoy doing, I’m only human…), but this time I’ve managed to stick to it.

In January (what a surprise!) I joined Slimming World and during my time with them I managed to lose about a stone (I went up and down), but sadly I’ve had to give it up due to my financial situation (less money, mo’ problems). I won’t say that I made every meal ‘syn free’, BUT I made quite a few and every meal was tasty, except for one, I decided to ‘go off piste’ and create my own which was a disaster, but we won’t talk about that… Thankfully even though I am no longer attending any of the weigh ins or classes (only stayed for one, the unsocial bitch that I am) I can still get all in the SW info I need on the World Wide Web. One of the best websites/blogs for recipes and also a good laugh is Two Chubby Cubs, I urge you to go and read their blog even if you aren’t following the SW lifestyle, also a good place to get recipes and info on ‘syns’ is on Pinterest and Facebook (there are tons of pages that you can follow).

Along with the SW lifestyle I’ve also been exercising a TON and can actually see the change in my body, which is such a confidence boost(!) and I’ve also got A LOT more energy that I didn’t previously have. I have been using a range of apps to help me keep fit and on track and I have a heap of them on my phone, I like to switch things up as I get bored easily and my favorite apps are: 8fit – pre fixed workouts which you can tailor the exercises to suit your level of fitness, Asana Rebel – this app offers you pre fixed yoga workouts, Bodyweight – this has a range of workouts and exercises, Fitplan – this has prefixed workouts , Gymster Pro – lets you choose the areas you would like to work on whilst utilising the equipment that you have around you, Sworkit – you chose the length of time you want to work out and also the type of workout you want & Track Yoga – does what it says on the tin, yoga sessions.

I love these apps and I love the variety of each one, now I’m not going to sit here and say I have paid or pay for any of these apps with the exception of Gymster Pro, they aren’t cheap and I cannot afford to be shelling out over £100 per year to have them and ALL of their workouts, but I find that using the free workouts to be just as effective as having access to all of them. That is not say don’t purchase/subscribe to them, if I could afford it I would as you always get more features and content when you do, but right now I’m perfectly happy with using the free workouts and exercise sessions. We’re lucky enough to have enough rooms in our house that I’ve now dedicated the ‘dressing room’ to my workouts and meditation (which I’m also doing, it’s great for your metal health) and I have ‘some’ home gym equipment, I have a workout/yoga mat, bench press, dumbells, kettlebell, resistance bands and my newly acquired gym ball/balance ball (whatever you want to call it). My intention is to re-floor and convert our attic into a gym/music room (I’ve got a drum kit which still resides at my parents 4 years after I moved out…) , the ‘dressing room’ is a good size, but we have 2 large wardrobes and a dressing table in there and I’m now struggling to find space to put my equipment #FirstWorldProblems.

(Excuse the shonky editing…)

This time around I haven’t set myself any goals in the way of ‘I want to lose 10lbs in 2 months’ kinda thing, I’m just exercising eating ‘syn free’ meals all whilst allowing myself a takeaway and that jar of Nutella when I’m in dire need of some hazelnut/chocolate goodness. I’m not going to lie and say that I wouldn’t like to drop a couple of dress sizes and be nice and toned by the time I get married, but as that will probably not happen for a couple of years I have plenty time drop the lbs and I’m not putting any added pressure on myself (because why would you want to do that to yourself, right?!).

Anyway I’m going to give my new exercise ball a go, cheerio! 💪

Motivation.

Is something that I seem to be lacking.

I had big plans to drop some weight before my holiday to Croatia back in May/June, but I seemed to put it on (before and during the holiday!), not only drop weight but also get back into my gym, yoga, home workout and meditation routine which I was sticking to and enjoying(!).

Today for example, I had a half day from work (sadly working Saturday morning), I came home, ate the majority of a tiger loaf (with butter) and watched absolute drivel on the telly. BUT, I had/have big plans for the afternoon/evening, which consist of cleaning the house, getting my stuff ready for tomorrow, have a mini pamper session (inc. bubble bath), do some yoga and meditation. This as you can see is a nice little list that you would think I would be able to get done on the next couple of hours, but here I am, under the duvet, in my bed, typing up this post. I’m procrastinating! (Not such a) BIG SURPRISE!

I like to think that the weather has a great deal to do with my lack of motivation, if it’s dull and raining, all I want to do is climb into bed and nap or watch a film, however if the sun is shinning then I would rather be out and about. It’s supposed to be summer already and the lack of sun is making it very difficult for me to want to leave my bed and/or get anything done! I’m in serious need of some help, I need someone or something to help get me back into my routine and back to the happier, healthier me.

Wish me luck, as in the next hour(ish) I will have at least like to have ticked 2-3 things off my list (although I’m very tempted to add a nap to said list…. !).

And, if anyone has some motivation that they would like to send my way, please do! I’ll take what I can get right now!

New Year, New Me.

At the start of every year there is the inevitable post whereby people will tell you of their New Years Resolutions and changes they intend to make and ladies and gentlemen, I will be one of those people…

This year I’m turning 30 and over the past couple of years I have gained a wee bit of weight(!) and now is the time that I get my arse into gear and do something about it.
Over the past few weeks I’ve been doing a bit of research and downloading a few apps to get me back on track.
I’m at present doing a 14 day teatox, eating healthy and I’ve been using the Freeletics/Bodbot apps on my phone.
Now, I’m not going to kid myself into thinking that the weight will drop off in a few weeks and I can just go back to how I was… I can’t do that to myself or my body.
This is something I intend to stick to, don’t get me wrong however, I will have a takeaway now and again and eat a tub if ice cream if I have had a terrible day and feel that this is the only thing to make me feel better…
I’m going to document my weight loss journey on here and on my Instagram (LadyKaKa86, come find me!).
Come and watch this tubber, become less tubby! 💪

Drop A Dress Size.

Or two…
Come next March I will be a bridesmaid and this has encouraged me (given me a kick up the bum!) to drop the pounds.
I’m not very fit, I like my food, a glass of wine and if I’m tipsy I will most likely have a cheeky cigarette, which (I know) is terrible… I am looking to change my ways!

Now, I’m not going to be part of the #FitFam or #EatClean because I would like to be able to enjoy my food and my life without constantly thinking about calories/fats/sugars and working out everyday, I am a curvy girl and would like to stay that way (I don’t know what I would do if I lost my boobs!), but I do know that I need to lose some weight and be a lot more healthier than I currently am. I’ve not sat down and written a daily/weekly/monthly plan, I’ll just do what I feel like on the day, that could mean a long walk, a run, kettle bell, yoga, resistance tubes, workout apps or my weight bench. I will be nice to mix things up a little! I’ve invested in some new running gear, a heart rate monitor and a running belt.
Since working in a store the weight has creeped up on me. The bakery is definitely not my friend and my portion size has been the same as J’s(!). There has been changes already, smaller meals and no baked goods, also taking lunch into work as apposed to buying it there helps AND drinking lots and lots of water.

We will see how it goes, hopefully by March 2015 I will be a few stone lighter, all I want is to look and feel good. Fingers crossed!

To Do List.

I turned 27 last Sunday and I decided it was time to make a few changes. Since we moved into the house I have become complacent, I stopped going to the gym, I started eating a lot of sweets, my only exercise has been from cleaning the house and walking up and down the stairs! I also haven’t been working for about a month and have been sitting in the house eating biscuits and watching the TLC channel (when I’m not cleaning). I am quite the lazy bitch.

I was going to write a ‘To Do List’ and I thought it might be better to type one up and pop it on the internet, that way I can’t loose it(!). So, here we go –

1. New job

2. Eat better

3. Long walks 4 times a week

4. Gym sessions 3 times a week

5. Make more time for friends & family

6. Learn to drive

There are only 6 things on my list with the main one being me getting a new job (top priority!) and the others are regarding my general health and well-being, the good thing is is that these are all achievable.

Zumba.

Myself and my mum decided to ‘go halfers’ on Zumba for the Kinect last week and on Monday night we tried it out for the first time… And it’s cracking!  You can have up to 4 players and there are different levels to choose from, of course me and mum clicked on beginner as we didn’t want to kid ourselves by attempting a harder setting.

We started off by learning the individual dance moves, but after 20 minutes we thought we were good enough to do a ‘Zumba Party’.  I think this was a good thing as the steps were quite easy to pick up and you feel as though you are getting a proper workout, I love dancing and am considering taking up a dance class (I used to dance when I was younger) on the back of this.  The great thing about this is you can take it slow to begin with and speed it up as you progress, I find this to be a complete cardiovascular workout and was knackered by the end!  This is great fun and I had a right old laugh with my mum.  We intend to Zumba 3-4 week whilst using the Wii Fit and I’m also going back to the gym, so I’m hoping by the time my 25th birthday arrives I shall be nice and toned!

I Want To Ride My Bicycle.

I have been contemplating this for a while and I am now for certain that I will be getting a push bike for some summer cycles.  Now there is a slight problem… I cannot ride a bike(!), I know you would think at 24 that I would be able to, but alas I cannot.  This is not to say I haven’t tried and people have tried to teach me (all in vain as I still cannot ride the bloody thing!) when I was younger, but this year I shall prevail!  My mum didn’t learn until she was 30, I however do not intend to wait that long….

My dad has been out and about on his bike the past few weeks and is suggesting that me and my mum get one so I can join him on his cycles around our part of town.  I have this whole romantic notion associated with cycling and it reminds me of Amsterdam as EVERYONE rides a bike there.  So I have been searching for the perfect bike for myself, I know what type of bike I would like and this is it;

Gym Bunny.

As I’m writing this I am in the gym on the bike working out!
I have been a member at my college gym since October of this year and I love it, I come 3 times a week after my classes and normally spend an hour or so working out my legs, bum, thighs and arms.  I trend do do my stomach crunches when I get home, don’t fancy everyone watching me do that!
I’ve really been noticing the weight dropping off and how my body is toning up!  I intend to keep this up and lose a few stone by next summer, slow and steady wins the race.
