Hey you guys! It’s been a while… I seem to have been bitten by the blogging bug and thought that would start off with a little round up post.
In the past few months there have been some ups and some downs, but thankfully everything is good at the moment!
The biggest thing that has happened is that we lost our little Mossy Moo, our youngest cat was tragically hit by a car and died on the 8th of May. It has been a horrible time, it hit us really bad and our oldest cat Senna stopped eating and was trying to find Moss (that was heartbreaking to watch). Sen has thankfully gotten better and both myself and Jaimie have gotten through the worst of it, but still think about him and miss him everyday.
On a lighter note, I’m currently being up skilled at work and will be duel skilled by July! There has and is still a lot to take in, but it’s been nice to be off the phones!
There’s a lot of stuff coming up, such as a gig, stag do, hen do and 3 more weddings and I’m trying to get back on the healthy wagon (although I doubt the tub of Ben & Jerry’s that was consumed over 2 days will help!).
Finally, it feels like summer! With the better weather it means that more time will be spent outside and I intend to start walking home from work (let’s see how long that lasts!).
(I’m going to keep this up, I’m going to kee….).
We (myself & J) are in the process of decorating our bedroom. We were quite ambitious when we said to our friends and family that it would only take us a week to do, not realising everything involved… Stripping the walls (Inc. ceiling), washing them down with sugar soap and that is as far as we have gotten(!) and there is still so much to do!
However, my Dad said the he would help remove the radiator, line the walls and any other DIY that we needed, although I have a feeling he will just delegate tasks!
The idea is to have the room finished by the time I start my new job (which is in less than a week), once our room is complete we are looking to make a start on the spare rooms and the ‘Man Cave/Blogging Den’. Ideally we would like the whole house decorated by the end of next year, but with a 35 year mortgage, I think we have enough time…
At present we are sleeping in the spare room and in a double bed, with 2 cats… A double bed is fine, if your on your own and have no pets that feel the need to stretch out and take up most of the space, so you can imagine that we are desperate to get our room finished.
We STILL haven’t decided which wallpaper to go with or what colour of paint to paint the walls, but I have decided that I would like 2 feature walls instead of the one.
I’m thinking, either the red or the gold as they are warm tones, I like the blue and the white, but I think they would make the bedroom appear cold.
If anyone has any input as to which wallpaper they prefer, speak now! I would really appreciate your feedback.
A little personal post. To be honest, this is for no one but myself, just a little reminder to let me know that even though some days are tough, I am by far better off where I am than where I was and things can only get better!
This time last year I resigned from old job and was in limbo, I still had a months contract but wasn’t going into work, so everyday was spent cleaning the house and preparing dinner (a housewife’s dream!). To be honest, leaving was the best decision that I had ever made. For nearly a year I had been forcing myself to stay there, hoping it would get better… Then I ended up in hospital due to stress and was off work for about a week. I wasn’t enjoying myself and you could cut the tension with a knife in the office!
I spent the entire month applying for jobs (mainly office based) and would hear nothing, so I started applying to retailers and ended up at a certain store. I wasn’t that bothered about where I worked as all I was thinking about was being able to pay for the mortgage and bills. I’ve been there a year in October and even though I’m not keen on the 10 hour shifts, late nights, working weekends and the dip in pay, I am a lot happier there. The people are nice, as are 98% of the customers(!), there is no stress, no hassle, no pressure and no backstabbing.
I am still looking and applying for other jobs in the hope that I can get back into the admin/customer service career and also the possibility of going back to college next year. I am thankful that I am lucky enough to have a job, especially in this day and age.
The support that I have received from my family and friends has been fantastic and couldn’t ask to have better people in my life.
So, it is officially summer… We have had a few days of sunshine and heat which has been fantastic, even as I type, I am laying in the garden getting my vitamin D!
This bout of good weather certainly makes for happier people. Sadly due to my shifts, when the weather is beautiful and I am off work I have no one to play with. Thankfully, Jaimie is on felxi time and he’s normally home at 3:30pm, this avo we have done a spot of shopping, are now relaxing on the grass and I have a glass of coconut rum & coke in hand with a bottle of Asti (my new fave drink) in the fridge for later… Mum and Dad will be popping along for a few glasses and a ‘chin wag’.
The best things about summer are the clothes, I can wear summer dresses, skirts, beautiful shoes and sometimes I don’t even wear a jacket(!) and also the FOOD, bbqs and a lot of salads are consumed (however, tonight will be steak) and with that, comes alfresco dining.
I’m hoping to get a lot of done in the summer months, including the garden, the house, mini trips and adventures with my man, family and best buddies! I just hope I can get some weekends off…
Nearly a year after moving into our house we are now making a start on our garden! We’ve started growing our own veg in the greenhouse, cleaned out one of the sheds and we’re now ‘landscaping’.
I’ve never really had ‘green fingers’ and the only gardening I have done (ha!) is watch my dad from the garden room whilst I sipped on a martini and lemonade! But now I’m taking this very seriously and I don my best ‘garden getup’ (joggers and an old top) and I have also purchased gardening gloves for my little lady hands. Now, I’m not very good at it and in two days I have broken two hoes and chipped a shovel, which tells us I’m either terribly strong or using them wrong…
Both Sen and Moss are very curious and will try and ‘help’ by licking things and trying to catch flys, which as you can imagine is such A BIG HELP.
Anyhoo’s, we have big plans for the front, side and back garden, hopefully we can have it all done before the end of the summer and then we can start on the house. Fingers crossed…
