It’s been a while since I’ve bothered to write a post, don’t get me wrong I’ve thought about it (a lot) and had ideas for posts but I’ve been ‘busy’ watching telly and being generally a lazy bitch.
As I type this I’m in the bath with a face mask on looking all kinds of alien like, listening to The XX and to get me back into the swing of things I thought I would do a wee ‘Round Up’ post.
So what’s been happening I hear you ask… I went on holiday with my friends to Croatia, changed jobs and companies at the end of August, got engaged in September and I also turned 30. THAT IS IT. To be honest 2016 was a good year for me, the new job and getting engaged were the two biggest things that happened. Leaving a call centre and taking on a more administrative roll has been an absolute fucking delight! Anyone who has worked in a call centre will know how utterly sole destroying it is, the people are great and I miss all my old work pals, but I cannot be happier to have left!
Onto the ENGAGEMENT, I will be, at some point in the near future ‘Mrs Wilson’ (or ‘Marshall-Wilson’ as I would like to be known). Me and J are in our now 10th year (!), that’s a bloody long time to be with someone so it was inevitable that it was going to happen (and I had an idea that it would be before my 30th). The proposal was nothing fancy or cheesy it was done after dinner in our house (*to be honest he could have asked me in the car driving to the shops and I would have said yes). Thankfully I am OBSESSED with my ring and it fitted so there was no need to resize it, although for the first couple of weeks my ring finger would swell up (I think it was trying to reject it!).
We’ve had the obligatory engagement party which coincided with a Halloween party held by and for my family and now we in the very early stages of planning so hopefully in the next couple of years we will have tied the knot.
I’m hoping that 2017 will be another good year for us and we make changes to the house and organise our wedding, but no doubt there will be some bumps in the road (which will be tackled head on), but I hope whoever and where ever you are that you enjoy what the new year brings you. For now I’m going to top up my bath with hot water as it has gotten cold and contemplate getting out in the next half hour before I turn into a prune.
Hopefully (and I say this every time!) I will be and bit more consistent with this blogging malarkey! But for now, bye Felicia! 👋
Christmas was a strange one for me this year, waking up in OUR house instead of my Mum and Dad’s and not doing the usual, which is – Waking up M&D’s at stupid o’clock, popping the kettle on and blasting the Marshall Christmas album circa 1993, before we exchange gifts and then I shuffle off to my room. This year, I woke up Jaimie & Senna and we stayed in bed to open our stockings, then headed downstairs, blasted some Now Christmas album that didn’t have all my favourite songs on it (sad face) and then we opened the presents before Jaimie made an amazing breakfast. After that we headed to Jaimie’s brother’s to see him, his girlfriend, baby Robbie, the new addition to the family and our beautiful little nephew and Skype their sister who is traveling.
Dinner was spent at M&D’s with my great aunties, aunt’s and uncle’s and Jaimies parents. The dinner was (as always) amazing and everyone had a fantastic time, luckily there was enough leftovers to keep me and Jaimie for a couple of day’s!
New Year’s Eve was a quiet one, spent with my two favourite boy’s. We were in our jammies by 7:30pm, had a Bonoful for dinner (the BEST Indian in Edinburgh) and then settled down to watch Dirty Rotten Scoundrels before bringing in the bell’s with a bottle of champers. We were such party animals and didn’t get to bed until 3am…
On the evening of New Year’s Day we invited my M&D to come round for a 3 bird roast, some drinks and a boardgame.
Another new year and another blog post containing resolutions that are the same as lasts year’s as I never stuck to them in 2013…
However, this year I’m making no resolutions and I’m going to take 2014 as it comes, hopefully some new and exciting adventures will come along and I will grab them with both hands!
I hope everyone had a wonderful evening what ever you were doing and have a fab 2014!
And good riddance!
Well not really, my year has been like everybody else’s, it’s had it’s up and down’s LIKE EVERY YEAR and 2013 will be EXACTLY the same. I will go on holiday, have nights in and out with friends and family, work 5 days a week, keep counting the days until the weekend and spend money on things that I do not need. The only exception being that me and Jaimie might have our own place this time next year, that would be nice; no that would be awesome. One step at a time… However on the 5th of Jan we are off to the bank to discuss mortgages and other things that grown up’s talk about when wanting to ‘invest in property’ (ooooh get me!).
Tonight I am off to Edinburgh’s legendary street party, in all my 26 years I have never been. I am not one for big crowds of drunken arseholes, but this year is different as my cousin and his gf have a spare two tickets for myself and Jaimie. I would rather be at a house party or even my own house(!), as I have gotten older I have come to the realisation that I do not care for New Years, it’s boring and it’s just another year… Big whoop… Maybe I have turned into a New Year Scrooge!
I am not going to get drunk as I would like to enjoy go for a nice walk or cycle tomorrow morning (HOW OLD AM I?!), but I do hope that we enjoy ourselves and on the plus side, the buses are free tonight so I won’t be paying a penny to get home.
Anyway’s, I hope everyone has a fab time whatever they decide to do tonight and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I haven’t blogged for yonks due to being so busy and ill, so I thought I would give it a go tonight. I am still chocked with the flu and don’t feel completely together, but I am bored and need something to do that doesn’t cause me too think much, unlike doing my college work.
This little post is going to be about my works belated Christmas/ New Year night out which we had on the 18th Jan. The night started at at Danny’s flat where we enjoyed our pre-drinks before heading to our next venue. We managed to book Walkabout’s wee room across the way for free as we all work in the same building, the only thing ‘we’ (work) paid for was the buffet. From there we popped along to the Tron for some more drinks, banter and a few games of pool, we stayed there for a couple of hours before going to our last stop of the night which was Opium.
A fabby night was had by all and I hope we don’t leave it too late to have another one!
This is my last New Years post (for now)…. And thought I would type a little something up about my night of the 31st Dec 2010 and the morning of the 1st Jan 2011.
We brought in the New Year at ‘Klevins’ AKA Kevin & Claire’s flat, I always prefer flat parties at this time of year because town is too expensive and it’s always too busy. We had a nice group of us there, but sadly a couple of our friends didn’t make it due to not being well.
There was a lot of food and a lot of drink that was to be consumed and I took it upon myself to eat and drink as much as I could! I stuck to the cocktails, well I think I did… I was quite the drunk and can only remember snip its of the night(!), I started with a French Martini and then I moved on to some home made punch before my next ‘tail. We all got drunk pretty quickly and there was a lot of drunken banter, which is always a winner.
When midnight come we all gave each other hugs and kisses and singed Auld Lang Syne whilst rasing our glasses for the new year. It was a great night spent with great people and am looking forward to see what this year brings us!
We’re now 2 days into 2011, 2010 seemed to just fly by! So here’s a small run down of what I did/achieved/etc..
I managed to have a few holiday’s, Dublin, Aberfeldy/Isle of Seil, Perth, Nottingham and a day trip to York. Seen a couple of bands, The Noisettes, Wolfmother, T Rextasy, Slash, and a couple other’s of which I can’t remember (I’m getting old!). Got dragged to some motor sport races. Finished and passed my NQ Tourism & Events course and after the summer enrolled into HNC Events Management course. Executed a cracking event and made money for MS Scotland. Got a new part-time job in a cinema and met lots of amazing new friends. Had quite a few nights out and enjoyed every one of them. Turned 24. Managed to snaffle a couple of work placements for this year. Moved into my new room. Joined the gym and am sticking to it!
I think that’s everything, no doubt I have missed quite a bit out of this list. But I did say this was a small run down….
