Nailz For Dayz.

If you follow my Instagram (@LadyKaKa86 🖑) and on here you will see that I am a lover of fake nails/nail art and recently I’ve taken to wearing fake nails ALL THE DAMN TIME, some I’ve purchased from eBay which I paint and decorate and others have been purchased from no other than Primark. I have to say I’m really impressed with the Primark nails as they only cost between £1-£2 at that price you would think they would be flimsy and/or would not last long, however I’ve been known to wear a set for up to two weeks (!).

Now I know those you who are not into the fake nail look may class them as tacky and unpractical and you would be right, but I LOVE them and no amount of ‘how can you type with those’, ‘they are so long’, ‘I don’t like them’ will ever stop me wearing them.

I used to be into the acrylic and gels nails, but I found them to be a pain and it was a long arduous process to remove them and now a with a quick dip in nail polish remover my ‘stick on nails’ are off. I always try to have break from wearing them, whether it be for a few days or a week, during that time I make sure I get my natural nails in peak condition by buffing, applying cuticle oil and nail hardener (only for me to ruin them again I hear you cry!). I’ve seen the damage that gel and acrylic nails can do and I actually like my natural nails enough not to put them through that.

So below are some pictures of the aforementioned eBay and Primark nails and If you’re looking to wear them for one night or one week you should definitely invest in a set of fake nails, they are a hell of a lot cheaper than acrylic and gels!

I’m currently sporting the below eBay nails (which showcases a lovely fingerprint smudge).

Review: Liz Earle – Cleanse & Polish

I’ve always been a fan of Liz Earle products, it all started with my mums 90’s QVC obsession, she bought one LE face wash and that was me hooked!

The Cleanse & Polish, Hot Cloth Cleanser is a favorite of mine. All Liz Earle products are made with natural ingredients and included in the Cleanse & Polish are: cocoa butter, rosemary, chamomile, hops and eucalyptus. All of these ingredients are to help soften, moisturise, tone and purify.

This is super easy and quick to do, apply all over face and neck, take the muslin cloth, rinse in hot water, use the cloth to wipe the cream off and finally give your face a splash with cold water. Afterwards your skin looks healthy and soft, honestly it’s amazing how good your skin looks and feels afterwards.

So ladies and gents, if you’re looking for some seriously good looking skin, give this a go, you won’t be disappointed!

December 1st.

Is finally upon us, which means it’s only 24 days until CHRISTMAS!
I’m super excited, I have just eaten my very first chocolate from the advent calendar and am about to start my Christmas card list! We’re going to have another year with just the two of us (well, 5 if you count the cats. Which of course, we do…), we’ll spend it eating, drinking, watching old Christmas films and playing boardgames.
We’ll do our obligatory family visits on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, which will allow us to spend the day lounging about in our jammies!

There’s still so much to do between now and then, decorating the house, writing out cards, going on a food & booze run and of course buying presents!
This year me and J are cutting back on what we spend on each other, we’ve had a busy and expensive year, so it makes sense just get each other something small (and within budget!). To be honest, the main focus for us is FOOD, we both LOVE a Christmas dinner (who doesn’t?!) and this year we will be going all out with all the meat, veg and pigs and blankets that you can eat! I better do a Joey from Friends and invest (or borrow) a pair of maternity leggings so that I am at my most comfortable when stuffing my face!

I’m hoping to try and persuade J to pop the Christmas tree up in the next few days. I need to invest in some more decorating also, however I have some fantastic crocheted Christmas lights coming my way, handmade by my friend Heather! I cannot wait for the house to feel Christmasy, I might even pop a playlist on the Sonos…

Anyway, I hope everyone is getting into the spirit of things and takes full advantage of all the Christmas themed fun wherever you are and if you’re not a fan, that’s cool, but we can’t be friends. 😜

I Don’t Vant To Be A Vampire.

That time of year is nearly upon us (Halloween) and yes it is time to start thinking about your costume and I have found the perfect one which is now out of stock on the Matalan website. First world problems at its best!

Just look at it! I could be a stylish Mummy sipping on blood themed cocktails, but no. Not unless they have my size in store or have my size restocked online, then I will have to resort the afore mentioned Vampire or a Zombie, my two ‘go to’ Halloween costumes.

halloween-mummy-dress-fancy-dress-costume2 It’s only £15!!!

Now, Zombies and Vampires are easy, wear an old/nice outfit and apply blood to said outfit or if you do not intend to ruin your best threads, apply blood over the face, neck and exposed body parts, always a winner… But not everyone wants to attend a party where the majority of guests have had the same idea as you (Yes, I know, the Mummy costume isn’t exactly thinking outside the box, but it is something different for me).

I have been scouring the internet to find a costume that is cheap (but not cheap looking), not a Zombie or Vampire and also something that doesn’t have the word ‘sexy’ in front of it. These are just some of the little beauties that I came across…

*The below costumes are going in the ‘No’ pile.

Examples –

sexy-womens-scottish-costume

Sexy Scottish Girl

sexy-jackie-sparrow-costume

Sexy ‘Jackie’ Sparrow

OR

ladies-sexy-orange-mm-costume

Sexy Orange M&M(!)

None of these appeal to me, sadly. Not even the ‘sexy’ Orange M&M… Which might come as a shocker.

Most of the Halloween costumes that are aimed at women are ‘sexy’, now if this floats your boat then go for it. I however, would rather be classy or all out bloody and gory and some of these costumes aren’t cheap, which astounds me considering there is very little fabric! I think £15 is the most that I would spend on any Halloween costume and I’m just hoping that Matalan will restock the Mummy costume soon.

Thankfully I have a few weeks to get my costume in order, whether I buy one or throw something together at the last minute I’m sure it will be good or at least it will be covered in blood and Halloween party appropriate.

4 Weddings & No Funeral.

In 2015 we (Jaimie and myself) have 4 weddings to attend. 4! One of which is a reception, one I will be a bridesmaid and the other two will be ‘all day-ers’. Now, apart from the Susans wedding where I will be a bridesmaid, I have the dilemma of deciding what I shall wear to the other 3… I have been looking at one website in particular (Asos) and have found some stunning dresses, clutches and heels, all of which I would like to purchase. I thought, what better way to make sure everything suits, than to make a board on Polyvore (check out the website, if you’re into fashion, you’ll find this so much fun!). Here are a few of the outfits that I am loving and desperately want to purchase.

Dress – £115

Heels – £29

Dress – £100

Wedding Outfit 4.

Bag – £24

Now, I already have wardrobes full of dresses and mountains of shoes and bags, but I don’t really own anything that is wedding appropriate (though I am sure Jaimie would beg to differ!). All of the these outfits are over £100, but by the time I start look to buy my outfits then they should HOPEFULLY be in the sale… (wishful thinking!), because as most people know, weddings are not cheap and for me to spend that amount on an outfit would be crazy…

Beauty Buys.

Recently, I have been spending some of my hard earned cash on haircare and beauty products, all of which I have purchased from my work.
Now, I am all for beauty on a budget and when these products arrived I couldn’t resist (I also get 10% off everything which makes it even better!).
My most recent buys have been –

OSIRIS AVISÈ – COLD CREAM, Cleansing Cream
image

Argan Oil – Heat Defence Leave in Spray
image

Argan Oil – Hair Treatment
image

Argan Oil – Shampoo & Conditioner

OSIRIS AVISÈ – CC Cream in Natural & Tanned

Cien – Make Up (Foundation in 1 Natural)

All of these products were under £3, which is an ABSOLUTE STEAL! The great thing is, is that because these are so cheap you don’t feel like you have burned a hole in your pocket!
As with most of the things my store sells, these little beauties will not be around for long and once they’re gone, they’re gone!
I will say that all these products work a treat for me, however everyones skin is different and these may not work for other folks, so do check the ingredients to make sure that they will work for you.

Review: Cien Products

Since moving into the house, getting a kitten and the change of job has meant that I cannot spend a small fortune on beauty products. I’m normally a bit of a high street girl, but will invest in some expensive products now and again, however I am completely in love with the Cien products which I have been buying from my work. I have bought the nail polish £1, mascara £1, moisturiser £1.99, shampoo 75p and conditioner 75p, hand cream £1.99, body moisturiser £1.99, nail polish remover £1.99, deodorant 99p and they are AMAZING! The make up range is pretty good for everyday wear, they also have lip gloss, lipstick and foundation, the colours are limited however that shouldn’t put you off. There is a selection of moisturisers too and I have gone for 24 moisture as the winter wind does no good for my skin!

The biggest thing for me however, is the shampoo and conditioner. After years of dying, straightening and curling my hair, it is now quite dry and brittle, I have tried LOTS of brands and even spent a small fortune on products to help fix my hair and the Cien products have proved to leave my hair shiny and silky smooth. The results were instant and bloody amazing, it’s crazy to think how cheap they are! A definite must buy.

If you’re looking for beauty on a budget then pop into your nearest Lidl store and pick them up and see for yourself!

Review: Olay In Shower Body Lotion.

It’s been a long time since I last did a review post, however I do feel that this product is worthy of one because I love it!

Olay’s In Shower Body Lotion is my new favourite product, especially in this cold weather! When winter strikes I tend to get dry skin, this is an absolute pain as I cannot always be bothered to apply moisturiser when I come out of the shower or bath, I do sometimes pop some baby oil into my shower puff or in the bath, but thought I would give it a bash.

I am a huge fan of Olay products and loved their body wash which they discontinued years ago, it would leave my skin feeling like I had moisturised, I bought it from Costco and haven’t found it since. So when I noticed this I did wonder if it would leave my skin feeling as good as the body wash (RIP) and…….. IT DOES! Now, this product is not a body wash so you will not apply this to the body puff, you will use your normal body wash and apply then In Shower Body Lotion all over your body and rinse…. once out of the shower pat your body dry and you’re left feeling silky smooth. Goodbye dull dry winter skin, hello glowing soft skin! This product is highly recommended and I suggest that you go out and purchase it, now!
