Wallace Monument.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by the lovely Laura from O’Leary PR asking if I would be interested in visiting The National Wallace Monument in Stirling, I of course said yes (Me and the OH had been meaning to visit for years!). The last time I was there was when I was 11 years old and my cousin Ross was visiting from Australia (J had never been!).

The day finally came (last Saturday) and we made our way through to Stirling, the drive there wasn’t too bad and when we arrived there was a chill in the air but it was sunny, which for me is a perfect winters day.

As I mentioned previously, the last time I visited The National Wallace Monument I was 11 years old and when we visited all those years ago you were able to park right outside The Monument on top of the hill, however nowadays they have a wonderful gift shop, cafe and car park.  You have two options on how you get up the The Wallace Monument, you can either head up there by foot or take the shuttle bus that they provide, me and J decided to walk up (this was to be my exercise for the week!).

As you make your way up there are a few viewing areas where you can go to take some pictures and take in the beautiful view. When we made it to the top we were again greeted with stunning views and of course the beautiful landmark that is The National Wallace Monument.

Once we had taken 30 odd pictures we finally made our way inside and were greeted by the warm and welcoming staff who provided me with our tickets and a voucher for 2 complimentary hot drinks at The Legends Coffee House with compliments from Stirling Tourism Board, we then we started our journey up the 246(!) steps…

There are 3 different rooms over 3 floors and then you have the crown (the very top of the monument). The first room you enter is the The Hall of Arms, in this room you will be able to find out William Wallace’s early life and also learn about the Battle at Stirling Bridge. In this room you will also see some armour (which is extremely heavy!) and the beautiful stained glass windows, which were flooded with sunlight.

On the next floor you come to the Hall of Heros, this room features 15 marble busts and one bronze bust, you may not always recognise the bust but you will most likely recognise their names (Sir Walter Scott, Robert Burns & James Watt to name a few!). However the best part of this room is Wallace’s sword, which stands at 5ft 4ins and weighs 6.5lbs (to be exact!), it is housed in a glass case.

The next room is The Royal Chamber and in the room you will find information on this Victorian building. There is also a jigsaw and ‘face in the hole, thingy’ (I clearly have no idea what they are called…) which is fun!

And finally, the stairs lead you to The Crown which is a fantastic viewing platform at the top of The National Wallace Monument. The 360 degree view is absolutely stunning, we must have spent a good 20 minutes up there taking in the sights!

We then descended the 246 stairs and the hill (complete with jelly legs!) to the Legends Coffee House to relax and have a coffee and hot chocolate which was much needed on that chilly day!

To anyone who has never been, go! Get a bit of history in you and enjoy the beautiful views that Stirling has to offer. Both myself and the OH had a fantastic afternoon and will definitely be returning!

Drop A Dress Size.

Or two…
Come next March I will be a bridesmaid and this has encouraged me (given me a kick up the bum!) to drop the pounds.
I’m not very fit, I like my food, a glass of wine and if I’m tipsy I will most likely have a cheeky cigarette, which (I know) is terrible… I am looking to change my ways!

Now, I’m not going to be part of the #FitFam or #EatClean because I would like to be able to enjoy my food and my life without constantly thinking about calories/fats/sugars and working out everyday, I am a curvy girl and would like to stay that way (I don’t know what I would do if I lost my boobs!), but I do know that I need to lose some weight and be a lot more healthier than I currently am. I’ve not sat down and written a daily/weekly/monthly plan, I’ll just do what I feel like on the day, that could mean a long walk, a run, kettle bell, yoga, resistance tubes, workout apps or my weight bench. I will be nice to mix things up a little! I’ve invested in some new running gear, a heart rate monitor and a running belt.
Since working in a store the weight has creeped up on me. The bakery is definitely not my friend and my portion size has been the same as J’s(!). There has been changes already, smaller meals and no baked goods, also taking lunch into work as apposed to buying it there helps AND drinking lots and lots of water.

We will see how it goes, hopefully by March 2015 I will be a few stone lighter, all I want is to look and feel good. Fingers crossed!

To Do List.

I turned 27 last Sunday and I decided it was time to make a few changes. Since we moved into the house I have become complacent, I stopped going to the gym, I started eating a lot of sweets, my only exercise has been from cleaning the house and walking up and down the stairs! I also haven’t been working for about a month and have been sitting in the house eating biscuits and watching the TLC channel (when I’m not cleaning). I am quite the lazy bitch.

I was going to write a ‘To Do List’ and I thought it might be better to type one up and pop it on the internet, that way I can’t loose it(!). So, here we go –

1. New job

2. Eat better

3. Long walks 4 times a week

4. Gym sessions 3 times a week

5. Make more time for friends & family

6. Learn to drive

There are only 6 things on my list with the main one being me getting a new job (top priority!) and the others are regarding my general health and well-being, the good thing is is that these are all achievable.

What I Wore.

Today me and Jaimie went for a walk from Portobello to Musselburgh and this is what I wore.

Leggings, oversized army shirt, creepers, jacket, bobble beanie and bag.

Twas a lovely day for a walk, not too chilly and only a smattering of rain. I managed to pick up my winter cider from Lidl, which made me super happy!

I am in the process of lightening my hair, but we shall find out tomorrow if it has worked. I have only stripped it today, tomorrow is D day!

Anyway here are some pictures!

Pictures Of The Weekend.

Cramond. All these pictures are from Saturday when me and Jay headed to Cramond for a wee walk, it was a lovely day (yet chilly).

The tide was out so we managed to walk across to Cramond Island which was a first for both of us! We had a sneak peak inside one of the old buildings which was used in the First and Second World Wars, that was pretty cool!

And we bumped into Jaimie’s friend Ad, his girlfriend and son which was nice and we haven’t seen them for a while.

It was a wonderful day and I had forgotten how much I like it there!

Pictures Of The Weekend.

I didn’t get up to a great deal this weekend which was nice! I spent my Saturday cleaning, going on walks, making homemade burgers, more online shopping, painting my nails and watching movies, Sunday I went shopping, out for lunch with my mum and great aunties, finding old photo’s, got rid of my lip stud and dyed the tips of my hair purple.

We have Jaimie’s brothers car for the next two weekends so hopefully(!) I shall be getting up more fun and interesting things!
